Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:

Electricians skilled and trained in electrical installation processes and techniques. Understands and can execute work via NEC and NFPA requirements.

Work is diverse and includes wiring for processing plants, motors, pumps of all types, and Med Voltage Power Distribution Systems. Industry types for this work include: oil and gas producers, power generation facilities and substation systems


Essential Job Functions:

Perform all aspects of securing a panel/MCC/load center to work in

  • Knowing all functions of a multimeter
  • Familiarity with our SOP’s and CSP’s
  • Knowing the PPE requirements for the particular task
  • Proper sequence of voltage testing and verification
  • Proper LOTO procedures and SOP’s referenced
  •    Familiarity with construction drawings
  •    Knowledge of the 1387A
  •    Able to teach an AP and willing to share that knowledge
  •    Good attitude
  •    Be aware that as a JW he is a professional and carries himself that way
  •    Work performed is always neat and professional in appearance
  •    Knowledge of the NEC
  •    Able to ask questions when in a situation that is unfamiliar to your background
  •    Know who is the customer (both internal and external (clients))
  •    Practice good attendance and attitude
  •    Know your craft and work well with others


Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Minimum  4 years, 6+ years preferable, of experience in the industrial electrical industry
  • Must have a valid and current General Electrician’s License from the State of California
  • Previous Residential Electrical work is not considered  of any value to this position
  • Previous Commercial Electrical work is better, but still not preferred because that industry places too little emphasis on safety
  • Previous Industrial Electrical work in Manufacturing is better still, but not the best experience for this position because although the industry does place value on safety, but it seems not to be a core value
  • Previous Mining, Oilfield, or Oil and Gas related Industrial Electrical Work is the best precursor to this position due to the high value placed on industrial safety in those industries
  • Must  be knowledgeable of the NEC Code and Hazardous Environment installations
  • Must have had exposure to NFPA 70E


Pre-Employment Requirements:

All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI’s insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment.


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as:

  • Sitting
  • Standing
  • Squatting
  • Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another
  • Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
  • Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,)
  • Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
  • Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions)
  • Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing


Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task.
