General Foreman

Position Title: General Foreman

Reports to: Senior Foreman/Superintendent

General Summary
A General Foreman provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control and ensuring the safety of all crew members as well as consistently applying of all KSI policies and procedures fairly.


Essential Job Functions
1. Regular attendance prepared and on time with proper PPE.
2. Must be available to work extended hours, if necessary.
3. Assist crews as necessary in order to perform job efficiently and safely, utilizes scope and risk management tools.
4. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license as required for the position.
5. Manages resource utilization (people, tools and equipment) and request manpower as required.
6. Evaluates crew capabilities including foreman like training and coaching to ensure that the crews meet required levels of quality.
7. Effectively communicates with all crew members to set and maintain works standards and outline behavioral expectations to ensure morale along with productivity.
8. Effectively resolves conflict and takes appropriate personnel actions by recognizing and addressing issues between crew(s).
9. Coach and mentor fellow crew members and actively involve BBEST, observer/coach/Steering Team Rep and provide team building skills.
10. Conducts safe work and performs behavioral based safety audits like identifying safety training needs and facilitates delivery of training.
11. Participates in and monitors safety tailgate meetings, safety/incident investigations and reviews.
12. Ensure timely response, actions and corrections to any safety issue.
13. Oversees the execution of the work, including quality and production.
14. Understand mechanical drawings and constructability as well as ensures crews work to job specifications and follow drawings.
15. Implement workforce plans and schedules, review and adjusts specific workforce activities and task schedules to meet established production agendas.
16. Reports any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate personnel.
17. Utilizes CI tools to reduce job cost and KSI’s cost of doing business also reports on crew production, work progress and change.
18. Attends customer meetings as needed with estimating cost control, resource loading, project performance and improvement.
19. Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and frequently refer to the SOP Manual.
20. Follow all KS Industries, LP safety, and customer policies and procedures.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read and write in English and communicate instructions in English
• Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
• Must be a highly motivated individual who takes initiative
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry, administrative tools and systems and usage of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
• Ability to handle administrative duties of position, including completion of required documents
• Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA)
• OSHA policies and procedures
• Ability to effectively use time management skills
• Project construction scope and objectives


Education and Experience
• Have 3 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools.
• Experience with oil clean-ups
• Knowledge of backhoe, box scraper, hydro excavator and ditch witch operations and managing repairs


Physical & Mental Requirements
Lifting/Pulling/Jerking/Grasping/Raising/Lowering: Must be able to lift, grasp up to 50 lbs. with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold and/or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc.) Must be able to raise and lower objects from one level to another.


Working Conditions

The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.
Working Hours: Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include 5-8’s and 4-10’s. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
